Spoiler |
Article by Chuck |
Following are the pictures that were taken for me by the
body shop. I was not allowed in to view the procedure.
First of all, I purchased the spoiler from MG Racing. Cost of the
spoiler was $251.75. UPS charges were $10.25. Cost of the painting
and installation of the spoiler was $223.00. This included primer and
color matching for a total of $485.00.Picture mvc007 is the spoiler
right out of the box from MG Racing, black fiberglass wrapped in bubble
wrap. Picture mvc008 is of the
installation hardware which included 4 bolts, 4 nuts, 4 flat washers,
and 4 lock washers. Picture 002 shows my baby all torn apart, They
had to remove the rear bumper cover, the tail lights, and the black
cover over the muffler. The lights had to be removed to get to the
underside of the cover in order to bolt the spoiler to the bumper
cover. Picture mvc004 shows the placement of the spoiler according
to the curves of the bumper and the curve of the underside of the
spoiler. This is the only place that it will mount to assure proper
installation with no gaps between the two surfaces. This picture also
shows the markings for the drill holes which was done by measuring the
holes on the spoiler and transferring them to the bumper cover, and the
green tape outlines the position of the spoiler. Picture mvc005 Shows
the epoxy around the drill holes that was used to glue the spoiler to
the cover. Picture mvc007 shows the bolts on the inside of the
cover used to lock the spoiler in place. Picture 006 Shows the spoiler
installed on the bumper, this was left this way for 24 hrs. to set up
and was reinstalled on the car the next day. The rest of the pictures
show the finished product.
